Mobile application developers frequently write their app for the platform they have on their own pocket and are left with no easy solution for growing the user base across other device platforms. LockerGnome's Jake Ludington talks with Rhomobile's Jay Mellman about how their Rhodes development tools allow software developers to write an application once and deploy it across iOS, Android, Windows Phone 7, BlackBerry, and Windows Mobile with WebOS and Symbian coming soon. A couple of key difference between Rhomobile and other cross-platform development solutions is native compiling of the scripting used in creating the applications and the ability to have a device native data store to all for offline functionality and faster performance. The Rhodes applications are native Ruby tools, but support API hooks from whatever programming language you used to develop your mobile app.

MobileBurn.com - The Samsung Dart is an entry-level Android handset available from T-Mobile. It has a 3.1-inch display with a disappointing QVGA (240 x 320 pixel) resolution, and a 600MHz processor. Running Android 2.2 Froyo, the Dart features Samsung's TouchWiz interface. The Dart is faster than you might think with its slower processor, but the resolution really lets you down when you try to browse the web. The 3 megapixel camera lacks autofocus and a flash, and only takes QVGA video, which is disappointing as well. In light of its faults, the Dart is as cheap as you can get an Android smartphone, as T-Mobile is offering the phone for free with a new two-year agreement. You can also opt to go a pre-paid route with the Dart, but then you have to plunk down 0 to purchase the phone. More info: www.mobileburn.com

There's also a way to customize the action of a slide-up action in the lock screen. There's a group messaging SMS feature, plus the ability to do WiFi calling.
