This video goes over some of the interesting added customizations and software bundles that we'll find in the MyTouch 4G Slide. It features a customized version of HTC Sense 3.0 which includes a different look and some lost functionality. For example, there are only 5 home screens that you can swipe between, and even though there is a zoomed-out view, you can't edit the order in which the home screens appear or are arranged. The MyTouch 4G comes with a few nice bundled apps. You get Adobe Reader, Bejeweled 2, the HTC Flashlight, a Friend Stream app that nicely aggregates social updates from Facebook and Twitter, DoubleTwist sync for syncing media, and T-Mobile Highlight for some news updates and things you might want to buy. The KidZone app is a nice way to disable most of your phone's functions and just leave access to T-Mobile TV, Bejewelled, YouTube, and the web browser. That way you can hand the phone to a child to play with and they won't be able to mess it up or get into too much trouble. Media Room is a cool app that gives you shortcuts to other media related aspects of the phone, but also allows you to share content to other DLNA compatible devices. It's called "Screen Share" but it also streams music and doesn't actually share your screen. T-Mobile also added their "My Account" and "My Device" apps which are generally useful. Netflix is included for you streaming movie needs, and Polaris Office is there to help you view Office documents you may receive. The ...
MobileBurn.com - The Samsung Dart is an entry-level Android handset available from T-Mobile. It has a 3.1-inch display with a disappointing QVGA (240 x 320 pixel) resolution, and a 600MHz processor. Running Android 2.2 Froyo, the Dart features Samsung's TouchWiz interface. The Dart is faster than you might think with its slower processor, but the resolution really lets you down when you try to browse the web. The 3 megapixel camera lacks autofocus and a flash, and only takes QVGA video, which is disappointing as well. In light of its faults, the Dart is as cheap as you can get an Android smartphone, as T-Mobile is offering the phone for free with a new two-year agreement. You can also opt to go a pre-paid route with the Dart, but then you have to plunk down 0 to purchase the phone. More info: www.mobileburn.com
bit.ly The T-Mobile version of the HTC HD7 comes with a few bundled apps that were bundled special for the carrier. Unfortunately we're not talking about a huge amount of innovation. You get the T-Mobile Family Room app which will let you connect family members with T-Mobile branded Windows Phone 7 devices in order to share notes and calendars. There's also the TeleNav GPS navigation program which is similar to the one we've seen on AT&T branded Windows Phone 7s. You've also got "T-Mobile TV" which is basically a rebrand of the Mobi-TV app for Windows Phone 7. The premium T-Mobile TV channels will cost you an extra per month, but if you cancel your trial subscription, you'll still have a few free channels to watch. Lastly, from the HTC Hub, you can actually download another T-Mobile application called "My Account" this gives you easy access to your phone service stats such as how many minutes and text messages you've used so far during the billing cycle. Other than that, T-Mobile has just bundled a couple more apps that anyone can download from the Marketplace. Netflix and Slacker will show up as defaults on your start screen, but they (and any of the other T-Mobile customizations) are easily removable if you so desire.
More about the Sidekick 4g: bit.ly In the software tour of the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G, we start off by talking about the default interface of the device, which is different than the stock Froyo launcher, but is effective and easy to use. The Sidekick 4G comes with a Feeds and Updates widget which can only be updated once per day; a sticky notes widget which saves your favorite text messages; and several others. The smartphone also lets you change to a variety of nice-looking themes that change the look and feel of the homescreen. Then we go over the jump key settings which makes it quick and easy to launch apps with the keyboard. There's a way to change the color of the LED notification light, which is a nice touch to help customize the Sidekick 4G. There's also a way to customize the action of a slide-up action in the lock screen. There's a group messaging SMS feature, plus the ability to do WiFi calling. Unfortunately, the WiFi calling still uses your minutes. We wrap of the video by showing some of the included apps on the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G. Facebook: www.facebook.com Twitter: twitter.com
